Venus Awards Devon Awards Ceremony Winner 2013
The winners of the inaugural NatWest Devon Venus Awards were announced at a prize-giving dinner at Exeter University’s Great Hall.
More than 1,400 nominations were received and thousands of public votes cast for the awards, celebrating the achievements of local businesswomen.
The awards have been created by Westcountry hotelier, Tara Howard, and have been hosted in Devon by Celia Delaney of Exeter-based company, SpeakingSuccess.
Tara says:”From the moment you walked into the room, you could feel the thrilling emotions coming from so many influential women. The Great Hall was packed for the event, with guests enjoying a sumptuous three course meal and some exceptional entertainment, topped off with a wonderful song performed by Celia herself. Everyone enjoyed themselves and the night was a huge success. Big congratulations to all of the inspiring women who entered the awards.”
Celia Delaney says:“This has been the culmination of many hours’ work, both on the part of the Venus team and our fantastic local sponsors, who have thrown themselves into the judging process with great enthusiasm and who tell me they have enjoyed it enormously.
I am so proud of the women who have nominated, entered, and of course, won an award. The number of people who went in for the awards is a testimony to how much women would like to be recognised for their achievements.
For my part, I’ve made many great new friendships and contacts, and it was a delight to host an award ceremony where women felt they could be themselves and have fun. I’ve no doubt the Awards will be even more popular next year as word about them spreads.”
The Venus Awards are now established in a number of regions in the south of England and Tara Howard hopes to develope them across the country.
